Water Resources Programme

Ensuring sustainable management and access to water in response to climate change impacts.

About Our Water Resources Programme

By linking water security to broader climate resilience, we support Tanzania's Water Sector Development Programme and international accords like the Ramsar Convention on wetlands. Our networking model connects local water user associations with experts, amplifying voices from the ground to influence national strategies. This program advances Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and Goal 13 (Climate Action), ensuring that future generations inherit abundant, clean water resources amid a changing climate.

To tackle emerging challenges, C4C-Tanzania is implementing desalination pilots in coastal communities facing saltwater intrusion, powered by renewable energy to minimize environmental impact. These projects, in collaboration with coastal authorities, provide alternative freshwater sources while educating residents on maintenance and equitable sharing.

Our long-term blueprint involves creating a water resilience alliance that unites NGOs, government, and private sectors to develop adaptive infrastructure, such as flood-resilient reservoirs in the highlands. Through citizen science programs, communities monitor water quality, fostering ownership and enabling rapid response to contamination events, thus securing Tanzania's blue gold for prosperity.
