Policy & Advocacy Programme

We facilitate multi-stakeholder dialogues between government bodies, private sector actors, and marginalized communities to co-create policies that balance economic development with environmental sustainability. C4C-Tanzania has contributed to shaping Tanzania's Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) implementation plan and the National Climate Change Strategy, advocating for measurable targets and transparent reporting mechanisms. Our policy analysts work in regions like Dar es Salaam and Mwanza to assess local compliance with national frameworks, identifying gaps and recommending context-specific solutions.

By leveraging our presence in Dodoma—Tanzania's political capital—we maintain close engagement with parliamentarians through regular briefings and technical support on climate legislation. Our advocacy extends to regional bodies like the East African Community, where we push for harmonized climate policies that address cross-border challenges such as transboundary water management and shared ecosystems. This work aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) and Goal 13 (Climate Action), ensuring that climate governance becomes more inclusive and accountable.

Looking forward, C4C-Tanzania is developing a digital policy monitoring platform that tracks implementation of climate commitments across government tiers, empowering citizens to hold leaders accountable. We are also expanding our youth policy fellowship program, training the next generation of climate leaders to engage in legislative processes. Through strategic litigation support for environmental justice cases, we aim to set legal precedents that reinforce Tanzania's constitutional right to a clean and healthy environment, cementing policy gains for generations to come.
