Climate for Change Tanzania

Empowering Tanzanians to build climate resilience and take effective action on climate change since 2025. Based in Dodoma, we work across Tanzania to create sustainable solutions for communities affected by climate change.

Mr. Julius Peter Gontako

Executive Director

Tanzania is experiencing the impacts of climate change, including rising temperatures, altered rainfall patterns, and increased frequency of extreme weather events. Evidence includes increased average annual temperatures, more intense rainfall leading to flooding, and prolonged dry spells causing droughts.

These changes are affecting water resources, agriculture, and livelihoods. First-hand experience proves that these extreme events are exacerbated by climate change and have great potential to impinge efforts to attain sustainable development and community wellbeing.

That is why C4C-Tanzania in the next five-year period is visioning a Tanzania where climate action is a top priority and communities are empowered to be climate resilient and citizens are working together to mitigate and adapt further climate change, whilst using our natural resources wisely.

Definitely, this is not an easy pathway and may be even a more challenging roadmap for climate action in Tanzania as most of policies are still un-harmonized and resources are limited. Nevertheless, we have no shortcut but to face the reality if we are to complement what the government, development partners and other stakeholders are already doing.

As civil society, our team cannot delay anymore while community needs climate solutions.

To achieve the intended target C4C-Tanzania will focus on:

  • Conducting scientific researches to explore community climate change and poverty related challenges
  • Promote the adaptive capacity of government and non-government through renewable energy and sustainable practices
  • Enhance public awareness about climate change and individual actions
  • Strengthen partnership with likeminded stakeholders to amplify our impact
  • Develop and implement relevant projects for climate resilience at local level
  • Lobby the government to enact strong climate change and clean energy policies
  • Implement climate change and poverty reduction projects among marginalized communities

I kindly invite everyone; employees, volunteers, interns, partners, members to join the movement as each contribution shall always count.

"If not us, then who?
If not now, then when?"
