Gender Mainstreaming Programme

Ensuring inclusive climate action that considers the unique needs of women and men.

About Our Gender Mainstreaming Programme

By embedding gender analysis in all our projects, from renewable energy installations to water management schemes, we create opportunities for economic empowerment and social transformation. This aligns with Tanzania's National Gender Policy and international commitments like the Beijing Platform for Action, while advancing Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality). Through our expansive networking structure, C4C-Tanzania ensures that gender mainstreaming not only addresses immediate climate challenges but also builds a foundation for long-term societal resilience and justice.

To deepen our impact, C4C-Tanzania has developed gender-disaggregated data tools that track participation and outcomes in all programs, allowing us to identify and address disparities in real-time. This data-driven approach has led to the creation of women-only innovation labs in coastal communities, where female entrepreneurs prototype climate-adaptive products like solar-powered fish dryers.

Future expansions include cross-border gender forums with neighboring East African countries to share best practices and advocate for regional policies that recognize women's roles in transboundary climate issues, such as shared river basin management. By prioritizing intersectionality—considering factors like age, ethnicity, and disability—we ensure that no one is left behind in Tanzania's climate journey.
